A tally chart is a simple way to collect and show data. Instead of writing numbers, we use tally marks to represent each item we count. It's super easy for first graders to learn and use!
Let's say we want to find out the favorite fruits of our classmates. Hereβs how we can create a tally chart:

To read a tally chart, simply count the tally marks for each category. Each tally mark represents one item.
